Machismo
Machismo was formed in September 2006 under the name “Acoustic Solution” and immediately began writing songs at a steady rate. Since then, the band has spent time perfecting an ear opening brand of music that is sure to rival most. Whilst the band are constantly writing songs, their sound is evolving all the time, yet tp find their own niche the band have been experimenting with instrumental, indie and venturing into heavier sounds.
Machismo’s expression fueled live performance is definitely their asset as impressed strangers regularly leave as fans. After going through a name change in March 08 this virtue was recently recognised when the band fended off 11 other respected Cork bands to win the 2008 CIT Battle Of The Bands in April. Machismo have also qualified for the Cork heat of the “Sunday World/Blast Beat LA or Busk” competition taking place in late July.
The band have booked recording for early September and are planning on releasing a debut EP around December time. Expect good things from a group of friends who strive in their journey of becoming one of the most original acts around.

Jeff Martin
Jeff Martin was raised in Windsor, Ontario and started playing the guitar at age 8. He formed his first band at age 11 and decided, then and there, that this is what he wanted to do with his life.
In high school he was challenged by an older student to learn a blues-inspired Led Zeppelin song which inspired his father, a
blues fan, to turned him on to the blues standards. Jeff caught on quickly and could frequently be found jamming with
professional bands from the Windsor Detroit area while still in his teens.
During his teens he was also given a copy of The Beatles’ Sergeant Pepper’s album and his imagination was captured by the instrumentation of Within You Without You.
Jeff developed a fascination with eastern tunings and instruments, a preoccupation he later indulged with great success as a member of the seminal Canadian band, The Tea Party. Jeff is also a producer.
In addition to producing or co-producing all of The Tea Party’s albums he has worked with artists such as Tenth Planet and
Hundred Mile House and has recorded with David Usher, Conjure One and Todd Kerns. Jeff is also producing local greats Crazy Chester’s first album.
Arundó
“Arundó” are a four piece group that play an exciting mixture of traditional and contemporary Irish and Andean music.
The name “Arundó” is actually the term for a family of bamboo-like plants, one of which produces the cane from which uilleann pipes are usually made. The name, therefore, well reflects the groups music, which is dominated by the mystical sounds of the uilleann and panpipes.
The four members of the group have crossed paths over the years in several different bands and at many a local session. The band line-up is:
John Byrne:
Kevin Byrne:
Timmy O’Callaghan:
Johnny ‘Bongos’: Uilleann Pipes, Flute, Whistles, Panpipes and Quena
Guitars and Mandolin
Accordion
Percussion

Cork City Jazz Band
The Cork City Jazz Band’s founding players evolved from other bands in the Cork area and only three of the original remain, namely, Marco Petrassi, Billy Crosbie and Gerry Walsh. They have been playing together for twenty-five years, twenty of which has seen them delight the crowds at Actons Hotel every Sunday and during the Kinsale Fringe Festival.
Today’s line-up includes Marco Petrassi on trumpet; Billy Crosbie on piano, Gerry Walsh on keyboards, Michael O’Brien on drums, Frank Ireland and Michael Lynch on saxophone/clarinet and Susan Crosbie singing.
The Cork City Jazz Band was at the instigation of the Kinsale Fringe Jazz.
Billy Crosbie and the band bring some of the most famous household names to the festival - Paddy Cole, Sonny Knowles, Joe Mac, Don Long, and Jack Brierley. Also they have helped the careers of Brid McKenna, Sharon Crosbie, Susan Crosbie and Ronnie ‘Sinatra’ Costley.
The band has been invited to play all over the world - from Belgium to New York - and have performed with such greats as Kenny Ball and Acker Bilk.
Manu and His Latino House
Manu and His Latino House, has common elements with Cuban Music, but at the same time differs from it because of the different musical perception and philosophy, and because it embraces a wider Native-Afro-Latin background.
Composed by native musicians from diverse South-American countries, such as Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and of course completed with Irish Musicians, it brings up a unique cross of rhythmic and harmonic elements rarely heard in contemporary Latin music.
Manu and His Latino House is party, is sensual, is innovative and traditional, is rhythmic and explosive at the same time. You can be sure to experience a show that reflects the vibrancy of Latin-American music.

Lerner
Formerly known as the Martin Ryan Band, the Cork band adopted a new name under the advice of the interminably wise sooth known only as ‘Galvin’. After a series of successful live shows in the summer of 2004, Lerner hit the old garden shed, set up a beaten up drum kit, a few guitar amps and a karaoke microphone and kicked off the sessions to what was to be their debut studio album ..still, waiting… Engineered and co-produced by Karl Odlum, still, waiting holds 10 songs about sad situations, overcoming fears and triumph over past regrets, it promises to show the public what Lerner are all about. In August 2005, Lerner welcomed a new vocalist in the shape of Alison Arnopp adding depth and range to old tracks, and introducing more and more possibilities to new ones. In November 2005 established singer-songwriter Anto’ joined Lerner on drums. His energetic and versatile capabilities bring a new rockier edge to the band and fuel Lerner’s energetic live shows. The band have just finished recording their 2nd studio album “Calm Road” and plan on a release in the coming months…

Two Time Polka
Two Time Polka formed in Cork in 1994 and have developed a distinctive sound that has its roots in Cajun, Zydeco, and Bluegrass music. They have built up an enviable reputation for turning out excellent live shows, including numerous performances at Irish festivals such as The Kilkenny Country Roots, The Dun Laoghaire Festival of World Cultures, The Cork Jazz Festival, The Galway Arts Festival, The Waterford Spraoi, The Cork Folk Festival to name but a few. The band has also done several European tours and has played at the legendary Glastonbury Festival and more recently Italy’s Premier International Folk Festival ‘Folkest’.
The band has released 2 CD’s to date, From Pana to Louisiana in 1999 and About Time Two in 2003.
Two Time Polka can look back on 2005 as being one of their most successful years on the road to date. The year began with their first US album release on Toucan Cove Records, which saw the band getting major exposure Stateside and in Canada. So far the band have clocked up over 200 air plays on radio across the US. A subsequent tour of the States followed in August, which included the recording of one of the concerts for future release on DVD.
Meanwhile, on the home front, Two Time Polka kept up their usual busy schedule of playing at some of the countries top music festivals starting in May with the Kilkenny Rhythm ‘n Roots festival and finishing in October with full houses at their gigs at the Cork Jazz Festival. The band also fitted in two very successful trips to Europe, in July they played four concerts in the north of Italy and in August they made a welcome return to Belgiums premier World Music Festival, Paulusfeesten, in Ostend.
This summer sees Two Time Polka take to the road in Ireland bringing their unique take on American Roots music to an ever-growing fan base.

Press Release. “About Time Two” A New CD from Two Time Polka.
Cork band Two Time Polka are proud to announce the release of their new CD “About Time Two” (TTP003CD). This is the follow up to their very successful debut album “From Pana To Louisiana” which prompted Hot Press magazine to write about it “This is a magnificent achievement. It’s seeped out of the Cork swamps, God only knows what other fabulous creatures lurk in her murky depths, though there can hardly be too many gems like this one.” The CD was also listed as essential listening in the Cork chapter of “The Great Record of Irish Music”. “From Pana to Louisiana” received much airplay when it was first released on RTE, RnaG and many local stations such as Clare FM and as is the way with independent recordings Two Time Polka are now just getting their first airplays on radio stations in the US. Aine Hensey, broadcaster and award winning presenter selected track no. 2 “Tom and Jerry” as her signature tune for her weekly programme Ard Trathnona on RnaG. To all the bands amusement we even turned up as a music question on the third level colleges quiz show “Challenging Times”!!
“About Time Two” threads the same pathways and back roads of American roots music that “From Pana to Louisiana” started out on. All the signposts are still there, whether they’re pointing towards the Bluegrass of Kentucky or the swamp pop of South Louisiana. The music on “About Time Two” resonates to the sound of Saturday night dancehall whether it is in the joyous vibrancy of the Two Step or in the sepia toned nostalgia of its waltzes. “About Time Two” in essence is a studio album but it doesn’t betray the bands approach to their live performances. All the essential “Two Time Polka” ingredients are here, tunes that will want to make you get up and dance and song settings that will linger with the listener long after the first hearing.
The album features several guest musicians. Mel Mercier - Percussion; Noel Barrett - Bass; Aisling Fitzpatrick - Cello; Eileen Healy - Fiddle; Jason O’Driscoll - Bass and acoustic guitars, vocals and 5 string banjo; Aine Whelan - Vocals; Hank Wedel - Slide guitar; Mick Power - Dobro guitar; and Leon Barron - Electric guitar, who has also been treading the boards with the band over the last year playing electric guitar.
